CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON is officially the most successful foreign-language film in British and American cinema history.

As the final results were added up from box offices around the country, ANG LEE's acclaimed martial arts fable edged ahead of the previous record figure of $4,555,062 (£3,036,708) posted three years ago by ROBERTO BENIGNI's Holocaust tale LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL.
