Quizzed Re: US Progressive Party, UK Player Fails To Progress

A contestant who correctly guessed the £1-million ($1.5 million) answer on the British version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire but declined to make it his "final answer" walked away with £500,000 ($750,000) Saturday night.

The question, which might have been a no-brainer if it had been put to an American contestant, was this: "In 1912, former U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt was a candidate for which political party? A: Bull Moose B: Bull Dog C: Bull Elephant D: Bull Frog." Contestant Steve Devlin responded at first: "I think I know this one. I think the answer is A." But he said he wasn't "absolutely sure" and decided to keep his previous winnings. "I don't regret my decision at all," he said afterwards. "Half a million pounds is a lot of money and it's going to make a huge difference to me."
