HUGH GRANT had a last-minute fashion disaster at last night's (21JAN01) GOLDEN GLOBE awards - after his designer suit got locked in his suitcase.

Grant, who came to support his SMALL TIME CROOKS co-star TRACEY ULLMAN after she was nominated for BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS, told America presenter and fashion interrogator JOAN RIVERS that he nearly didn't make it to the event because of a packing mishap.

Grant admitted, "I'm lucky to be wearing anything because I couldn't open my suitcase. I've had half the MONDRIAN hotel trying to crowbar open my suitcase for the last two hours."
