Minority Ownership Of TV Stations Declines

Meanwhile, a government study indicated Tuesday that, despite efforts by the Clinton administration to promote minority ownership of TV stations, the number of minority owners actually has decreased during the past two years to their lowest level since 1990. Commerce Secretary Norman Mineta urged Congress to reinstate a tax credit for broadcasters who sell their licenses to minority-owned firms, a proposal also advocated by Republican Senator John McCain, who heads the Senate commerce committee.
