Michael Waited For Harrison TO Make Traffic Better

MICHAEL DOUGLAS initially turned down the role as America's drug czar ROBERT WAKEFIELD in hit movie TRAFFIC - because his part was weak.

But after the role was offered to HARRISON FORD, the BASIC INSTINCT actor had another look it and noticed it had become considerably more important.

So Douglas pleaded for another chance to star in the film, opposite his wife CATHERINE ZETA JONES. He says, "Harrison is smart. I don't know what happened to him but the part got a lot better. So I jumped up and said 'Please reconsider me, can we think about it?'" (RP/WNE/CPT)
