Stranded (2004) - Details

Stranded

France, circa 1944. Two Japanese American GIs, named Kazuo and Richard, stumble upon a German soldier who has been shot in the stomach and left for dead. Kazuo, a replacement soldier from California, wishes to help the German while Richard, a veteran from Hawaii, reasons that they should simply leave the German to die. The divide between Kazuo and Richard not only includes their battlefield experience but also the discrimination they faced at home. Kazuo's entire family was interned at a concentration camp. Richard's family was not, like most Hawaiian families. Eventually, Kazuo convinces Richard to report the situation to their superiors. Richard departs in order to get a clear radio signal and, while he is away, a German squad confronts Kazuo and its fallen comrade. Kazuo is faced with an ultimate life or death decision.
