In Your Face (2002) - Synopsis
“In Your Face” is the first full-length Hollywood feature film production based on the game of paintball.
John Hornburg, the film’s Executive Producer, became interested in the sport of paintball when it was suggested as a plot element for another film he was developing called “The Shortcut”. After doing much in-depth research over a period of six months, Mr. Hornburg decided that a film specifically for the paintball community of five million current and past players would be potentially well received.
The script is a collaborative effort between Mr. Hornburg, his wife Kristin, and two new, young writers; Valerie Hiatt, who had written a quirky comedy entitled “Obsess Much”, and Aaron Christopher, a long time paintball player who was introduced to Hornburg by Bud Orr, founder of WORR Game Products. Aaron’s game and technical experience, combined with his excellent writing ability, brought a much needed element to the writing team as Hornburg insisted that the film portray paintball authentically.
Hornburg has hired Benjamin Sacks as the film Producer. Having been involved in the production of some twenty-three films over the past four years, in capacities ranging from Production Coordinator to Unit Production Manager to Producer, Mr. Sacks brings the necessary management skills to what Hornburg understood was going to be a somewhat difficult film to make.
The final ingredient, the director, was actually chosen quite some time before in the person of Tim Tommasino. Mr. Tommasino, feature film editor and current Senior Editor on NBC television’s “ER”, for the past four years, is an old friend of Hornburg’s. The two met when Tommasino edited the Hornburg’s documentary film about a small country circus, called “Small Top”. Mr. Tommasino, a long time extreme biker, motobiker and paintballer himself, jumped at the chance to direct. With his very considerable skills, Mr. Tommasino brings great story telling abilities to “In Your Face”.
