When Brendan Met Trudy (2000) - Synopsis

When Brendan Met Trudy (2000)

BRENDAN - teacher, movie buff, baritone and loner is the first to admit that he's lost touch. His pupils ignore him and his work colleagues are wary of him, his only solace is in singing baritone for the local church choir and a passion for old movies.

TRUDY - blond, beautiful, feisty and fast talking. She hates any films that don't come in colour and has a secret night-time occupation.

One night lost in reverie over a pint of Guinness, Brendan meets Trudy who captures his heart & drags him (whimpering quietly) into her madcap world. The result is a hilarious clash of personalities & a moving romantic liaison.

When Brendan Met Trudy is the first original film script from celebrated award winning novelist, Roddy Doyle (Snapper, the (1993)] Commitments, The (1991), Van, The (1996)). Set in modern Dublin & paying homage to a host of classic movies, Kieron J. Walsh's directorial debut stars Peter Mcdonald (I Went Down (1997) , Felicia's Journey (1999) , Nora (1999) ) & newcomer, Flora Montgomery (Metropolis). Pauline McLynn (Father Ted, Ballykissangel) also stars.
