Roberts plays strong-willed Maggie, a woman who's already left three men at the altar, fleeing from them at the very last minute. As she gears up for her fourth wedding, she finds herself clashing with Ike, Gere's selfish news reporter, who's just been fired for writing an offensive, unfounded article about Maggie's behaviour. In order to reclaim his career, Ike must write a fact-based report on Maggie's tough treatment of men, but as he's waiting for her to fail again, he finds himself falling for the subject of his story.
