Attic Expeditions, The (2000) - Synopsis ImageTrevor Blackburn, Andras Jones (Nightmare on Elm Street 4, The Demolitionist), is a man with no memory of his past -- haunted by nightmares. Nightmares of a mystical ritual and inexplicable knowledge of an ancient book of arcane, forbidden secrets. Awakening from a coma, Trevor finds himself under the care of the eccentric Dr. Ek, Jeffrey Combs (I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998), Faust, TV's Deep Space 9), who informs Trevor that he has been committed to Ek's sanitarium for the sacrificial murder of his fiancee.

Trevor is sent to a halfway house overseen by Dr. Abbey Thalama, Wendy Robie (Twin Peaks, The People Under The Stairs). The group of recovering psychotics include Ronald, Jerry Hauck (Cob, I'll Do Anything), whose personality is torn between his true self and an alligator hand puppet; Amy, Shannon Hart Cleary (Legion Of The Night, White Trash), a flirty, nervous young woman who draws the same childlike picture over and over; Liz, Nancy Wolfe (Helter Skelter, Journey From Darkness), a woman who believes that the stories she writes cause the world to exist; and Douglas, Seth Green (Austin Powers, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Idle Hands), who aside from his eccentricities, seems to be almost normal. However, it's not his fellow residents that begin to affect Trevor. It's his dreams.

Reality and fantasy converge in Trevor's nightmares -- nightmares of his own brain surgery and dreams of a strange trunk locked in the attic that conceals the entrance to a magical room. As Trevor's grip on reality slips, his fellow residents are being murdered and Trevor is the prime suspect. Trevor's paranoia increases with the body count and his dead fiancee, Faith, Beth Bates (Out Of The Darkness, Ocean Tribe), reappears to him in his waking life. She threatens to possess a fellow resident and kill Trevor. Behind it all, Dr. Ek watches the experiment he has made Trevor the subject of and plots Trevor's fate -- complete insanity. The Attic Expeditions is a wild and disquieting journey into the darkest reaches of a mind on the brink of madness.
