In this second film recounting Marcel Pagnol's childhood, he returns to the hills where he and his family now spend every weekend. Whilst taking short cuts on their walks they trespass in the grounds of a private chateau. Years later the grown up Marcel acquires a castle for his film company and realises that it is the very one that his mother was so afraid of cutting across.
