Offering us a very different view of the Middle East, writer-director Elia Suleiman's comedy opens with a group of children pursuing an elderly man wearing a Santa outfit up a deserted hill in Jerusalem. At the summit, he tumbles to the floor with a knife sticking out of his chest as the children silently look on.
