Morvern Callar : Movie Review

"A dreamy fairy tale for the rave generation from white-hot Scottish director Lynne Ramsay."

Already the darling of the festival circuit with her debut movie Ratcatcher, Lynne Ramsay more than justifies the superlatives with her second feature, a beautiful but tough-minded take on Alan Warner’s cult novel.

When her boyfriend kills himself Morvern Callar (Morton), a supermarket shelf-stacker, puts her own name on his unpublished novel, sells it for an implausible amount of money and heads for the Costa with best mate Lanna (McDermott) in tow.
