When tough boss Carol (Jennifer Aniston) cracks down on the failing branch of the business run by her laid-back brother Clay (TJ Miller), he and his fired-up staff fight back. They throw an epic office Christmas party to boost morale.
This is a film filled with a number of very likeable actors who are also impressive comic actors and there are plenty of laughs at this Christmas party - and action mostly fuelled by booze and bad decisions. This is the sort of crazy film we’ve become used to in recent years and of course things quickly spiral out of control to create a wild and raunchy comedy.
There’s the odd cringe moment, moments of sentimentality that don’t quite work and as always in these films gross-out scenes that will either but funny to some or just plain gross to others. Even if the plot is paper thin and falls apart in the final scenes when car-chases and kidnappings go a little too far and feel forced this is still an enjoyable and funny film with great performances - especially from Kate McKinnon. Of course Aniston and Bateman are alumni from Horrible Bosses and work well together. The direction is solid and the production values are high.
